2021 Gamache Syrah
Tasting Notes
Gamache Vineyard is part of the Sagemoor Group since 2016. It all started with Roger and Bob Gamache in 1980. It sits up on the white bluffs overlooking Basin City to the east in the Columbia Valley AVA, with 180 acres of wine grapes. A cooler site versus Red Mountain, the highest elevation is 960 feet. A gentle, mile-long southwestern slope ends at elevation 840 feet. Bordering the east side of the vineyard is a 300 foot drop to the valley floor, towards Basin City.
100% Syrah // aged for 24 months in 25% new American oak.
ABV: 15% // 98 cases produced
Deep ruby color in the glass. With a nose light pine, cola or Dr. Pepper, anise. A big mouthfeel, filled with dried fruit, cured meats, black pepper and a little peat. Medium tannin, finishing smooth with caramelized sugar and vanilla from that American oak.
